Armament Factories IN FRANCE. (Aus. & N.Z. Gable Assn.) (Received October 18. at 7.30 p.m.) PARIS, Octobe r 17. In the interests of national defence, the French Government has requisitioned the important Sautter Jlarle Armaments Factory. There has been a strike in progress at this factory for over a month, owing to the dismissal of two men. The management had declined Government arbitration. The Government’s decision to take over the factory, was welcomed by sixteen hundred workers, who have promised to resume work on Monday under Government engineers. The Employers’ Federation has protested at the Government’s action. I This factory' is engaged m turning out equipment for two new cruisers, the and the “Strasbourg.” It is also announced that the Government have decided to nationalise all of the factories producing equipment for the French Air Force
