LORD NUFFIELD
GIFT FOR THE BLIND. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received October 18. at 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 17. Lord Nuffield -is giving the National Institute for the Blind thirty-live thousand pounds, payable in seven yearly' instalments, in order to develop talk'ng books, for the blind. This will be supplementary to Lord Nuffield’s gift of live thousand for the same purpose in 1936. LONDON. October 16. <( I was getting bored, and now have a new incentive working for shareholders ’’ said Lord Nuffield, when interviewed, referring 1o the public's interest in shares. He added: There is no responsibility looking after one’s own money, which means nothing to me. Indeed T could easily go back to where I started and might be happier if I did. but having earned the money. I wish to alleviate suffering, in which I believe, Britain ought to lead the world. I hope the university, every year will produce 29 brilliant men, who will teach in other centres.”
