General s&tual.io.n: An anticyclone of considerable intensity extends across the Northern Tasman Sea. arid the North Island; while the pressure is rather law to the south and east. Forecast: Winds at first over the northern half of the North Island; otherwise, westerly to north-westerly winds prevai ing. moderate to strong generally, and ruing at times to gale force .n places about’ and south of Cook Strait. ■Seas (N.Z. water 0 ): Rough in Foveaux Strait; rather rough to rough oouth of Cape Egmont and about. Co'ok Strait; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate and variable winds, with slight to moderate seas in the northern port on, tending easterly in the far . north; moderate to strong westerly to northwesterly winds in the southern portion, with rather rough soyis. Weather for the most part fair to fine, hut somewhat, changeable, with intermittent rain in the districts with a westerly aspect, more especially in the western and far southern por Tionof the South Island. Temperatures mild, particularly in eastern districts.
