Biographer’s Tribute I (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received October 15, at 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 14. “The greatest’ Admiral of modern times, and a tactician .second' to none in olden or modern times,” is the description applied to the late Lord Jellicoe by Admiral Si r R.JI. Bacon, in his “Life of Jellieoe,” which is published by Cassell. Admiral (Bacon says: “The result of the Battle of Jutland was that the German High Sea Fleet remained in harbour, and watched us transport, without interruption, millions of men. and millions of tons ol’ ammunition and stores to whatever port of the globe we wished to deliver them'. The Germans, at all events, knew in June, 1916, that thei r Fleet was beaten, and their great torpedo offensive, by which they hoped to defeat the British Fleet failed.”
