SHEEP SELL BETTER Cattle Prices Lower (Our Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH. October 14. Hoggets eoinpi’ised the, bu ! k of the store sheep yarding at Addington today, with a fair percentage of owe hoggetts. Recent rains stimulated the demand for all grades. There was an improvement in values to Is- pm' head. A line of 600 three-quarter bred ewe hoggetts realised 33s (id. A I-.no of shorn ewo hoggetts fetched 36 s. Be c t wether hoggetts sold to 2(65. Very few ewes and lambs werq offered to a firming demand. There was a larger offering of spring lambs, and an excellent sale throughout. Values .were firm to last week’s rates. ’The quality generally was exce’ient. Top pr'ce was 32s U'd There was a sightly smaller offering of mutton, comprising 3800 head. The quality was good. Many sshor sheep were penned. Tho market show od little change in values practically throughout the sale. There was another large yarding of beef numbering 4GO hqad. Following the heavy offering last (week, the buying capacity was weaker. Many nice linos were offered, whilst there, was a larger proportion of light quality steers and cows. The market opened draggingly. to drop ,15s per head “n the last sale, thorc being little, change throughout. Be v 4 prime beef sold to 36 s per 100 lbs, and oecasifonally to 375; good 32s to 33s 6d; medium 28s 6d to 31s (id; inferior from 245. There was a medium offering of fat pigs..
