HITLER’S PROTEST. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) PARIS, October 13. The German Charge D'Affaires called at the Quai D’Orsay, and protested at the speech criticising Herr Hitter, which AL Thorez made on Sunday in Alsace. The protest was energetic, but the lack of formality indicates that too much stress should' not be laid upon it. The demarche was limited to drawing attention 'to passages in Al, Thorez’s speech, leaving France free to take such measures us she chooses to secure respect for the heads of foreign States, l.t is understood tha* Germany not only objected to certain passages in the speech, but cTiietly to a caricature of Hitler, posted behind the platform from which M. Thorez spoke.
