FLOOD LOSSES
IN CANTERBURY. ('Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, October 13. Severe stock losses were suffered by C. S. Douald, trotting trainer, in the Waimakariri flood. Of a herd of 57 cows and calves grazing" on the rivetbank, only 15 have been found. Fve horses, three, yearlings by the stallion Jack Potts, and two brood mares are missing. Donald’s loss is estimated at £5OO. The cattle and horses were grazing on land eight feet above the normal river level, but the river rose thirteen feet, and trapped the stock.
