TROUBLE FEARED
FRANCE AND GERMANY Communist Attack ON HITLER AT ALSACE DEMONSTRATION. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received October 13, at 7-30 p.m.) BERLIN, October 12. _ The German Ambassador at Paris has been instructed . formally to protest to the French Government regarding the Communist speeches made in Alsace on Sunday, at the Communist demonstrations, and chiefly that made by Al. Thorez,’ who, allegedly insulted Herr Hitler and the German people by quoting extracts from Hillers book “Alein Ilampf,” Thorez interpreting them to mean that Hitler is solely aiming at an annihilation of France. Thorez also reproached Al. Blum, French Prime Alinister, for “capitulating to the blackmail of Hitler's agents,” in. . limiting the Communist meetings as Alsace. Thorez is also alleged to have distorted Herr Hitler’s Winter Help speech into a declaration that it was wholesome for rhe worker to go hungry, ami that Germany might by war, have the opportunity of regaining her former position in the world. The newspapers of Germany have made a united attack on Al. Thorez, who is denounced as a liar, a slanderer and a sub-human scoundrel.
British Warning to France FEAR OF COMPLICATIONS. (Received October 13, at 7.30 p.mQ LONDON, October 12. The “Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspsndent says: The British Cabinet Alinisters are concerned lest serious complications follow the speech of Al. Thorez, at the Communist demonstration in Alsace, on Sunday. 'Probably the British Ambassador at Paris will be asked t'o convey to the French Government an epxression of this British view, with the earnest hope that everything possible will be done to prevent the incident developing. THE GERMAN VIEW. (Received October 13, at 10.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 13. The “Daily Mall's” Berlin correspondent says: “Count A’on Welszech. the German Ambassador at Paris, has been instructed to point out that it is contrary to international usage to attack the head of another State.
