Air. p. G. Beary, Passenger Foreman, Railwavs Department, Greymouth, lias been promoted to Yard Foreman, Greymouth, succeeding Mr. J. Cook, who left yesterday on transfer to Christchurch. Air. S. Page has received promotion to replace Mr. Beary, as Passenger Foreman.

The death of a former well-known Grevmouth resilient, Mr Henry Walter Pot'burv, occurred on the 4th inst., at his residence, 88 Niblett Street, Wanganui. Deceased, who was G r - years of age was in the employ of the Railway Department here, as a painter until his departure over twenty years ago fo’ Wanganui. ..

Rev. D. C. Herron, of Knox Church. Dunedin, and formerly of St. David’s Church, Auckland, was unanimously nominated by Auckland Presbyteiy, as 1937 Aloderator of the Presbyterian Church of N.Z. In bringing forward his nomination. Rev. W. Bower Black referred to Mr Herron’s work as convener of the Theological Students Committee, and to his outstanding qualities of leadership in the Church. ■—Press Assn.

A well-known figure on the Westport waterfront, in Jack Freeman, aged 74, passed away last evening, after a very brief illness. A native of Nelson, he was engaged, with his late parent, in boat and barge building at Nelson and Wellington, coming to Westport 40 years ago, to t'ake on duty on the waterfront, including also that of driver for the Westport Harbour Board. He retired a few years ago. He leaves a widow, and two married daughters, Airs D. Armit (Auckland) and Mrs C. Turney (Wellington).— Press Assn,

A peisonality well known in the Sounds trade for over thirty years, was removed by the death of Captain Richard Hart, of Wellington. He was the son of the late Richard Hart, Superintendent of the Telegraph Department Edinburgh. Captain liar; started his career as an apprentice on the barque Eastern .n 1885. In February, 1907, he was appointed master of the Alanaroa. From 1915 onwards, he was in command of the Stormbird Putiki. Invercargill, Blenheim, Kauliintt: and Kapiti.— Press A««n.
