His best winning time over six furlongs was 1.111, which he ran in winning the Shorts Handicap at Trentham in October. 1929. He established a race record of 1.12 4-5 for the Taranaki Stakes in 1929. but this was reduced io 1.12 1-5 by Mother Superior ’-i 1935. Poniard: The Greyspear gelding Poniard was nominated for Wingatui on the offchance of the going being firm. His stablematc Braw Lad was considered to have the better chance of the two, but Poniard won comfortably at both starts, Braw Lad ran bad races. Poniard showed that ho can gallop in soft ground as well as Ou top of the ground. Poniard has won a few races of small value, and his two fine witty suggests that, he can stay. He was got by Greyspear from Eelspear, by Arrowsmith —Rarama, by San Fran—Fairy Goldby Gold Reef from Nymph, by Informal'.
