THE WEATHER
(Per .Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 6. The weather report ami forecast are as follows:— General situation; A depression is crossing the. Dominion to-day, and it is being followed by a secondary one across the Tasman '.Sea. An anti-cy-clone is still centred north of New Zealand, and another one is now located over eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, northerly io westerly predominating; strong and squally in parts of the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas, but otherwise mainly moderate; backing at times to southwesterly in many places. Seas in New Zealand waters: Rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits, and on parts of the west coast south of Cape Egmont; elsewhere, slight to moderate.
Eastern 'Tasma.n Sea: Winds between west and south-west prevailing, but later backing again to north-west; strong at tim'es, with rather rough seas in the northern portion, but otherwise moderate, with slight to moderate seas. Weather: Mainly fair in the eastern coastal areas; otherwise, cloudy to overcast, and with rain at times, but more especially in the districts with a, westerly aspect; 'improving 'during to-morrow in most, parts. Temperatures cool to moderate.
