Tennent that it was not his intention ■ to proceed further with any proceed--1 .lugs, which he announced at the res cent meeting of the City Council, that he was issuing against Cr. ,T. Hodgens, L ' M.P., in consequence of a reference to Mr Tennent, contained in a telegram which Cr. Hodgens forwarded to th<‘ Council three weeks ago. f Mr Tennent. said that though he considered the proper place for Mr Hodgens to make a withdrawal of the . statement was the Council table, he '’ understood, from people who attended J) a public meeting in the. Opera House ’ on September 19, that Mr Hodgens ,! there made the necessary withdrawal. , r He (Cr. Tennent) now regarded the ” matter as closed.
