(Our Own Correspondent.) The weather, which has not been of the best for the last few weeks, is. now looking more promising. This flat experienced a very severe hail storm last Friday afternoon, which resulted in much colder conditions for the next few days. The pastures are now showing the usual spring growth. With a few warm days the feed should come away very quickly. Rev. Father Browne, Parish Priest of Ross, paid a visit here on Sunday last. Mr. T. Wells, who has been on a visit to Hokitika for the past week, has returned. Mr. and Mrs. I l ’. Paniment, who have been visiting Christchurch, have retimed. Mr. and Mrs. E. Chisnall, who have been on a visit to Christchurch, are home again. The annual meeting of the interWanganui Dairy Coy. will take place at the factory on Saturday afternoon next. The cream lorry from Hokitika factory made a start collecting in this locality this week. Mr. C. Lucas, who has been on a visit to Hokitika, has returned. During the last fortnight over 500 head of fat cattle have passed through here. Most of the cattle were fattened at Weheka, and came from the holdings of Messrs. Sullivan Bros, and F. G. Williams and Sons. Other cattle that have passed through were from Gibb Bros. (Waiho), Donovan Bros. (Waiho) and Adamson Bros. ( Wataroa). A children’s plain and fancy dress ball will be held here about the middle of October. The funds aro to go towards the Plunket Society. Mrs. C. Shearer, senr., is on a visit to Hokitika. Mr. C. Hende paid a brief visit to Hokitika and Ross last week. Mr. T. Woodham was a visitor to Hokitika on Saturday. Mr. G. Rowley, who paid a week-end visit to Blenheim to witness the Rugby fixture has returned. Wataroa will be the resort of Rugby

enthusiasts on Saturday when a seven-a-side tournament will be played there. No fewer than seven teams have nominated, and the tourney will conclude the football season in South Westland.
