All of the Australian backs were prominent. Mcllish was outstanding as half for the Maoris, whij'c O’Connor played a iiemarkablw safe game at full-back. The only' scores in the second halt wese a try by each side. The final scores were: Australia 31; Maoris 6. SOUTHLAND DEFEAT WELLINGTON. INVERCARGILL, September 23.
