THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, -September 22. The weather report and foiv/ast, :U'e as follows:— (te.neral situation: An anti cyclone is lying east of New Zealand, and is centred beyond Chatham island. Il has intensified considerably. 2! shallow depression covers the north-east portion of the Tasman Sea, while pressure is rather high over Eastern 2\ustralia, and across the southern Tasman Sea. Forecast; Winds light to moderate, north-easterly to northerly from Nelson and Marlborough northwards, and freshening somewhat over the North Island; elsewhere, light and variable, but with southerlies ’ prevailing at ti rst.
Seas in New Zealand waters: Rather rough north of East Cape and in parts of the' Cook Strait area; otherwise, slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh north-easterly winds in the northern portion, and light to moderate easterlies or south-easterlies in the southern portion. Seas moderate. Weather; For the most part fair and mild, but cloudy or misty at times, and some scattered rains are probable, more especially in the North Island and the northern and eastern portions of the South.
