MR. JORDAN ELECTED

TO LEAGUE COMMITTEE Abyssinia’s Case (Aust. * N.Z. Cable A«sn.) GENEVA, September 21. Voting for the election of the Credentials Committee was secret at the request of Abyssinia. Air. Jordan recorded New Zealand’s vote. The Abyssinians were gratified that Air. Eden and Al. Litvinoff headed tho list with 47 votes each. Al. Delbos received 4G. Mr. Jordan, who the Abyssinians likewise expected to be favourable to them was eighth, with 40 votes. He will also serve on the Committee.

The Credentials Committee later met and postponed a decision whether the Abvssinians should be excluded from future meetings of the League Assembly. A-leanwhile, Abyssinia will remain nt the Assembly. Saavedra Lamas, Argentine Foreign Minister, was elected President of the Assembly. Abyssinia participated in the. vote. Italy was not represented. LONDON, September 21. In consequence of news from Geneva, Selassie is proceeding thither by air instead of to-night’s train. RUGBY, September 21.

During a brief stay in Faris on his way to Geneva, Air. Eden was received bv AL Blum.

The Abyssinian delegation sent a note to the Credentials Committee, drawing its attention to the existence of the regular native Government at Gore, and claiming that, under international law, a State of Abyssinia therefore continues to exist.
