RAILWAY HOARDINGS
AUCKLAND OBJECTION. AUCKLAND, September 21. Representations were recently made bv the Municipal Association, to the Railway Department, concerning some of its'outdoor advertising, which has been the subject of protest at times from local bodies. A copy, of the reply of the Minister for Railways (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) to the association was received by the City Conned to-night. . The Minister said he had no hesitation in assuring the association that it was his w.sh that the outdoor advertising work of the Department should be conducted along lines that would not offend the public taste, more particularly the aesthetic aspect, as far as local bodies were concerned. The Department was fully aware of his views in this matter, and - every care would be taken to see that this policv was put into effect. The Alinister added that if it should so happen that in future a hoarding was erected in circumstances which, in the opinion of the Municipal Association, called for a review of the matter, the Department would be pleased to give careful consideration to anv representations made. . The Mayor (Mr Ernest. Davis) said he would'have suggestions, concerning some of the existing hoardings looked into.
