MANUKAU CAMPAIGN
MR. DOIDGE’S CALL
For Resignations
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 2.1,
A challenge, to the Government to call upon Hon. H. R- G. Mason, Hon. F E. Lark and the Hou. B. Martin to resign any. positions they occupy .in addition to those in Parliament, was made bv Air. F. W. Doidge, tho National Party candidate in the Manukau by election at his meeting to-night. “I suggest that the Government has been guilty of hypocrisy, unless it takes a definite’course of action,” said Mr. Doidge. “Trades unions, such as plumbers’ and carpenters’ unions have been warned of dire penalties for the same reason,” he continued, “but pontiffs of the party, high Nabobs aud Pockbahs. < ’ii do as they like. If the Government is to prove its sincerity then it should call upon Hon. Mr. Mason, II- ii. Mr. Lark and Hon. Air. Martin to resign these extra jobs, and if they don't, then they should be called upon to resign from the Party. I maintain that the Government cannot run away from the issue, or otherwise it will stand indie-ted on a charge they have made for themselves.”
