A Press Association message from Invercargill stated that the death occurred there yesterday of Air, James Hain, formerly for many years headmaster in the Park and South schools, Invercargill. lie was aged 75 years, and was born at Ballarat. He arrived in New Zealand in 1880. He was a bowler, with an Australian and New Zealand reputation. He, is survived by his widow and daughter. Airs. Walter J. Jones. His son. Stanley, was kiiwd in action ou tho Somme.

The death occurred unexpectedly at Gladstone Siding yesterday, of Edna, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 11. FOgilvie. Deceased, who was only 14 years of age, had been confined to bed for the past fortnight, with a severe cold, which turned to pneumonia. She. suddenly collapsed early in. the morning, ami died from heart failure Until recently she was a pupil of the Greymouth " Technical High School.
