Reports of a settlement out of Court, to-night, promised to bring to an end one of the. most sensational trials, involving prominent cinema stars. The effect is that Alary Astor, the actress, is apparently proving victorious in her efforts to reverse a Court decision whieh’gave the. custody of her small daughter to her divorced husband. Doctor Franklyn Thorpe, It is now understood that mother and father will both have the youngster for varying periods. The chief item in the tcstiniony given was Mary Astor's private diary, thus involving the names of prominent playwrights, .actors, and men of affairs. The revelation,, have been so intimate that the moving picture industry has made strenuous efforts to ob<ain the settlement of the case, fearing an “adverse reaction” of the Legion of Decency.
