A strike threat is again mem-icing the Port K''inbla iron and steel works. It is owing to the dismissal of a member of the Engine Drivers’ Inion, and aKo a member of the Fron Workers’ Union. The latter organisation has given the management seven days notice of u cessation of work, unless both men arc reinstated. The management ha- replied that the ilien must stand down for two weeks. Beforeetaoine down for two weeks before they applv for reinstatement. THE BOSSES’ PROFIT. (Received August 3. at 11.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE. August 3. The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited announces a record profit for the vear, of £859,360, compared with £670,442 for Hie previous vear.
