THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association.) WELLIiNGTON, June 2. . The weather report and forecast arc as follows:-— General situation: Au anti-cyclone of moderate intensity covers the north Tasman Sea, and extends on to northern New Zealand, and a slight one is centred near Tasmania. A westerly depression is approaching across the south Tasman Sea.
Forecast: Winds south-westerly at first north of New Plymouth and Napier; otherwise north-westerly to westerly winds prevailing, light to moderate generally, but soou freshening about and south of Cook Strait, and backing to south-westerly shortly in the far south; and southerlies are again becoming general within 24 to 3(5 hours.
Seas in New Zealand waters: Rather rough to rough south of Cape Egmont and rising about Cook and Foveaux St.raits; elsewhere, moderate.
Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong westerly winds, backing to southerlies in the southern portion; seas rather rough to rough.
Weather; Changeable and with scattered rain in the districts with a westerly aspect and in the fur south. Mainly fair in the eastern areas, but showers are extending' later to the eastern parts of the South Island.
