REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) BEEFTON, July 2. A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held before Mr 11, Morgan, S.M. A Waiuta resident was fined 10s and costs for being found on licensed premises after hours. Maurice . Flynn was fined as and costs for driving a motor vehicle without a license. The traffic inspector proceeded against 11. I. Robinson, for driving a motor delivers- van without having the distinguishing number plates. The defendant produced papers for registration from the Post Office, stating he was told by the Post Office officials to carry on. The Magistrate stated tnat if the vehicle were not properly registered it did not possess the necessary third party risk. Robinson was fined £1 and costs. The Traffic Inspector also proceeded against J. Shaw, for permitting a car to be used without the transfer being registered. The case was adjourned until next Court dav. Mr H. Morgan, S.M., in commenting upon th e frequency of people driving motor vehicles without licenses, intimated that in future cases, the fines would be increased. The annual general meeting of the Whippet Club was held last evening. Mr B. 11. Winchester was in rhe chair. Th e election of officers resulted; Patron, Mr J. M. Spillane, J. Barnett, W. McGregor, T. Moyle, W. Winchester; auditor, Mr J. Noble. It was resolved to pay £7 ISs to the general fund of Miss Elma Hindmarsh.
