For keeping liquor for sale in Oamaru, a no-license area, Stanlej Smart to-day was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. He had been previously convicted for a similar oifbUCC- AUCKLAND, June 9.

Judgment for the plaintiff company for £lB9l, less an amount to be allowed by the registrar to be deducted in accordance with principles indicated by his Honor, was given by Mr. Justice Ostler in a reserved decision in the Supreme Court in the action brought by the Transport Mutual and General Insurance Company, Ltd.., m liquidation, against Cyril Ernie Richard Webber, agent ot Dunedin. The plaintiff company is one of a group of companies for the formation of which J. AV. S. McArthur and certain business associates in Auckland wore responsible and which, by the Companies (Special Liquidation) Act, 1934 ’ 3d ’ were ordered to be wound up by tbc Public. Trustee. The action was brought bv the Public Trustee (as statutory liquidator of the plaintiff company) against the defendant for the recovery of amounts totalling £lB9l, with interest It involved a dispute over the terms on which the defendant was emploved bv the plaintiff to purchase the shares of certain other companies. 1 TIMARU, June 10-
