Tn ideal weather at the Recreation Ground, the West Coast Hockey Associat'on’s 1936 Competitions opened on Saturday, two fast and interesting games being witnessed. COBDEN 4, WESLEY 1. Cobden, playing short, ran out winners over Wesley by four goals to one. For Cobden, de' Freatus. M. Eatwell, Butler and Carter scored, whilst D. Howell netted for Wesley. PACIFIC 3—MAWHERA 1. ■Superior forward play, gave Pacific a win by three goals to one over Mawhera. For the former. Coffey (2) and S. Knapp scored, whilst \V. Ryan scored Mawht ra’s lone goal. .Messrs W. E. Nowton and K. E. Balch in controlled the games.
