(Our Own Correspondent.) Flower Show: WESTPORT, May 2. The Westport Methodist Chrysanthemum Chib's annual ilower show was opened yesterday by the Mayor, Air. Kilkenny, who congratulated the Chib .on tlu’ wonderful display or blooms. The entries showed a big increase on last veer's as the standard of exhibits also revealed a very noticeable improvement. The Club Cup for the most points in the cut bloom section was won bv Mrs, ][• Tregurtha, who also captured the Taylor Cup awarded for the most points scored in the dicorative section. The trophy donated for the champion bloom was won by Mr. .Junge. The points scored in the cut bloom section gave an indication of the difficult task set tlio judges. Mrs. H. Tregurtha scored -11. Miss 'faylor .'lB, and Airs. AirDo.nald 34. Tn the decorative section the most successful competitors were Mesd'ames H. Tregurtha 10 pts., Mrs. "W. R. Woodcock 5 pts., Mrs. W. Taylor 4 pts. The judges of Howers were Air. G. Hufton and Miss Martin. The show was open again today and despite rough weather conditions the sessions wore well attended- The prize list was a lengthy one. Hockey: Mr. AL O’Dea was in 'the chair at the annual meeting of the '.Buller Hockey Association, held last evening. The attendance was not large. Severe Storm; Westport and district experienced a verv severe storm last night. Thunder and lightning, accompanied bv torrential rain and wind of g’ale force, made matters very unpleasant. Early this morning the storm’ was at its peak and considerable damage, resulted to propiFty. Fair, Ltd., lost n large plate glass window and several other shops in Palmerston Street suffered similar damage. Many fences were razed to the ground and only a few wireelss posts were left standing. A slip took place on the Millerton track, but this was quickly cleared to permit traffic to tho township. Obituary; The. death took place in the Buller Hospital, after a long illness, this morning, of Alichael O’Neill, a single man, aged 46 yGars.
