CROWD PROTEST.

(Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON. April 16.

Nurse Wadldingham (convicted of poisoning an elderly woman patient) was executed at Birmingham. The crowd was kept a quarter of a mile from the prison. The demonstrations included a line ot sandwichmen bearing placards “Stop this terrible crime "of hanging a mother with five children.” Mrs Vian Der Elslt brought a loudspeaker van playing hymns. She protested against the execution, but her endeavour to commission six _ aeroplanes to fly over the prison failed.
