WAS IT ELLSWORTH?
HIS RADIO SIGN Heard in N.Z. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, November 28. The Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department advises that H.M.S. Dunedin in Pictou Harbour, heard radio signals from the Eilswofc-th Expedition , aeroplane at 12.20 this morning. The s.gnals wer e very weak and unreadable:, but the cadi aign K.HNIB was heard t-everal times. The ’plane appeared to be giving its position by arr*4*es continuously. A watch is still being maintained by New Zealand land stations. The Mouowai, coming down the coast from Auckland, also heard Ellssignals at 12.20, but ti.ev were not readable. MESSAGE FROM WYATT EABP. WAS IT HER CALL ? (Aus. and N.Z. Cable A.^-1 November 28, at 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 27. A N.A.N.A. message from the Wyatt Earp says: The Director-General of ■the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Department has ->.ent iniessage saying that H.M.S. Dunedin at 12.20 a.m., today heard Ellsworth’s call sign “K.H.N.1.-R.” Lt is hoped that the signal was from the Polar Star, as the time corresponds with that agreed upon for the us'e <»f the emergency apparatus, if necessary; but possibly, tho signals heard lu Niew Zealand were from the Wyatt Karp. 'lff the signals did come from Ellsworth. they should be heard again, and vigilance is being maintained by radio operators. The Wyatt Earp moved to- Deception I land to-day. Mail and supplies for the British Graham Land Expedition, which is based about 220 miles souhwe-it' of 'here, ‘will be .left 'in one of th e snow-proof houses here. It was hoped to he able to deliver them when the Graham Land Expedition was on its way to Ross Sea, but now the Wyatt Earp probably will return to Magallanes. and thence go direct to Charcot Islands to lay depot'?, as a matter of precaution, before proceeding to the Bay of Whales where it is hoped Ellsworth is. It wild probably be mid-January be'ore she i s able to get through t*he pack ice to thie edge of Ross Sea. Ellsworth. had supplies t-o la>t two months. SEARCH FOR SMITH. IN SIAM. In reference to The Penang message (November 25th) the Royal Air Force is informed by the British Minister at Bangkok, that the Siamese authorit'ies have ordered an intensive ground search of the Se'tul area.
