Competition was again animated and excellent clearances were effected. The market was very firm. Greasy Merino made a fresh record to 26|d. THE EXCHANGE RATE. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH. November 12. At the annual meeting of the South Island Freezing Companies’ Association held to-night, the question of any reduction in the exchange rate on London was discussed. The opinion was unanimously expressed that a reduction in the present rate would be disastrous to the farming community while other exporting countries continue on their present basis of exchange.
