BARRYTOWN NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.) The anniversary ball, held on Saturday night, was a most’ enjoyable funct on w and was favoured with good Patronage, despite counter attractions. The hall was tastefully decorated with nikau palms and multi-coloured streamers and an excellent’ supper was piovided by the 'ladies’ committee. The floor, which was in first -class order, was very ably ronzro led by Mr C, Roper a-‘ M.C. Music was supplied bj the Victorian Dance Baud. Winners of the novelty dances were: Lucky Spot, Miss Neta Downes and R. McTaggart; Morale Carlo, Miss M. Talleutyre and 11. Langridge. Among those present were noticed: Mesdames T. The monthly meeting of the Barry-town-Punakaiki Womens’ Institute was held recentlv at >the residence of Mrs W. Rowe. Mrs T. Richards presided over a good attendance. The c ompetition for the best article made from four skeins of woo' was won by Mrs R. .T. Johnst’ora with Mrs T. Richards second The guest of the after-i noon was Mrs G. W. Meade, who gave several interesting demonstrations. There were some cleverly made articles from the Disabled Soldiers’ Association on display. An invitation was re ceived from the IRunanga Institute to attend their birthday ora September 27th. During fhe social hour, a daintv afternoon tea was served by the joint hostesses, Mesdames Rowe and Richards.
