Mr Okey, of Pukekura, has obtained the contract for file erection of Stoney Creek bridge, at -tffie far end of the Poerua Road The Pukekura Hotel was sold by public auction ,as a going concern on Thursdav afternoon last. Mr Watts’ Chisnell,' of the Harihari Hotel was the purchaser the price paid being £4BO. Master Eddie Kirby, of Silverstreani College, Wellington, is home on his term holidays. Mr and Mrs B. Kelly, of Hokitika, were visitors to the Flat on Tuesday. Mrs E. of Evans Creek, is era a visit to Hokitika and Greymouth. Mr Carl Heude is on a business visit to Hokitika and Greymouth. The proprietor of the Harihari Hotel intends carrying out extensive improvements to the hotel before Xmas. The whitebait are very slow in making an appearance i n the South Westland rivers. A couple of not quite full tins were railed to Christchurch one day last week The annual meeting of the InterWanganui Dairy Coy., will be held at the factory on Saturday next. Mr Sharpe, the newly-appoin-t'ed Schoolmaster has take n up his duties here at the local schob 1 . A large number of local residents left on Friday evening last to connect at Hokitika with the excursion train for Christchurch. They arrived home on Sunday evening after a most enjoyable trip. Mr P. O’Donnell has left for Wellington. Mesdames Cron and Glass are on a visit to Christchurch.
