PLANE TRAGEDY
Russian Children ON REWARD FLIGHT. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.* MOSCOW. September 11. (Received September 11 at 9 p.m.) Four children, as being the- best pupils of nine years of age in Charkov, were rewarded with an aeroplane flight. They were in a machine which i was encircling the town at a height of seven thousand feet, when the engine stnnned. The two airmen, being equipped with parachutes, jumped with ’he o. Each took two of the children in his arms. One parachute, however, failed to open, am] the three on it were killed. Tim other three landed safelv.
