LEAGUE FOOTBALL

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening, there being present Messrs. L. Hunter, J. Stokes. W. Barlow, A. C. Hall, B. Ramsay. B. Rathbun, W. Ryan (referees’ delegate) and R. J. Harrington (secretary). In the absence of the president (Mr. A. 11. McKanc) from whom an apology was received, Mr. Hunter was voted to the chair.

' The New Zealand League advised that the following reinstatements to the code had been approved: A. Currie, W. Hopkins, T. Griffiths, E. Mundv, T. Dowling, T. Pryor, G. Croft, J. Ryall, T. McGuire, F. Campbell, R. Baird. O. Williams and J. J. Devonport. The referees’ report were received as satisfactory. Accounts amounting to £3 7s 6d were passed for payment. Mr. Hall referred to the rough state of the Ngahere ground and suggested that the League might well spend a few pounds on levelling it up. At the present time the ground was a hindrance to the Ngahere Club, and it was impossible to play League football on it. A few pounds would be well spent on the ground, as it would assist the Ngahere Club and in the end the League would reap the benefit. The acting-chairman said that the only difficulty was that in granting monev for ground improvement that would be creating a precedent. Mr. Hall said that the League had helped with the fencing of the Dun ollie and Blackball grounds, so that It would not be a precedent. The acting-chairman said that it was just a question of what it was going to cost. The League could not reallv go in for a big expenditure. He thought that the best thing would be to ask the Ngahere Chib to write in. Mr. Hall said that he thought the League should the initiative. Tie moved that the Ngahere Club bo written to. asking them to estimate the cost of improving the ground, and to supply particulars of the ownership of the ground. The motion was seconded by Air. Rathbun afflfccarried. Messrs. Uniter and Hall wore appointed joint managers of the Wes* Coa c t team for to-day’s match. Masters Hall and Barlow were appointed baR-boys. Fielding); Runanga A v Brunner, at Dunollie, 1.30 (Matt Hall); Pirates a bye. Auckland Team’s Visit TO-DAY’S REP. MATCH. The Auckland Rugby League representative team arrived by yesterday’s express, and meet- the West Coast, at Victoria Park -this afternoon. The team had a training run at the Park last yesterday afternoon, and impressed followers of the code with their friends The teams will take the field as announced in yesterday’s issue. Last evening, Messrs G. Grey Campbell (Chairman of the Auck’and League Control Board) and A. T. MeClymont (New Zealand selector) were present at the meeting of the Management Committee of the West' oC'ast League In extending a welcome t,he President of the West Coast League (Mr A. H. McKane) said that it gave the League great pleasure t'o have the Auckland team pay them a visit. Messrs Campbell and MeClymont,. in rep'y, gave interesting addresses. details of which will appear later, and Mr A. O. Hall (N.Z. Selector) also joined in the welcome. Mr McC'ymont remarked that an English t'eam would probably visit New Zealand next year, and a tour as suggested by Mr Hall might aid in the selection of the Test side.
