Popular Teacher Farewelled: Miss Cressey who has been in charge of the dress-making classes at the Technical School tor the past three years and is leaving the district shortly for Raratonga was farewelled on Friday evening by her pupils. The principal and Mrs. Metson were present. Mr. Metson in presenting Miss Cressey with a bedroom clock and some eutlerv expressed regret at losing her services. Miss Cressey has accomplished good work and under her guidance popularity of the dress making classes had steadily grown. He wished her every happiness in her new home. Miss Cressey suitably replied and expressed regret at leaving Westport.

Obituary: The death took place at Rocklands, Buller Road, of Miss Bertha Walker, at the age of 75 years. Deceased was popularly known and her passing has caused deep regret amongst a wide circle of friends. The late Miss Walker was a native of Nelson and the funeral will take place there to-morrow.

Card Party: The Holland Memorial Hall Committee held a very successful card evening in the Labour rooms on Friday. The attendance, owing to other attractions, showed a falling off when compared with the customary patronage extended to the. function. The prize winners were Mrs Fox and Mr. P. Sannazzoro.

Shipping: The tramp steamer Aclybryn arrived on Friday evening from Wanganui. The Omana and Fairburn also arrived. The Poolta is in port. The Canopus ran into bad weather on her Auckland trip and the return visit to Westport has, as a consequence been delayed.
