Au emphwtie denial of th e cablegram from Calcutta that the Maharajah of Patiala was not financing the Australian cricket team’s visit to bndia, was made by Prank Tarrant, who said:—“The Maharajah definitely is sponsoring the t°ur, and J, as his agent* am arranging for the payment of the players The money has been deposited in the Melbourne bank. Re ports that the Bengal Association would share in the profits are quite wrong, because the Maharajah doos not intend to accept any money.” Tarrant described the team he had selected as one of the best that Australia could send.
