Joe Louis, advanced his claim to-night as the chief contender for the heavyweight boxing championship when he defeated King Levinsky by a technical knock-out two minutes twenty-one seconds after the commencement of the first round. Aft’er a few seconds of wild milling, Louis, using short right blows to the jaw, knocked down his opponent three itimes for successive counts of threefour and four. The referee then stopped the bout. Levinsky weighed 14st. l|lbs. and Louis scaled 14st. 2Mhs. There were forty thousand spectators.
