The “Daily Telegraph ’s’’ diplomatic correspondent reveals that the Foreign Office made* strong representations to Signor Grandi against the Italian press violent’ attacks on Britain, and reminded him of the British newspapers’ restraint towards Italian affairs. A hint is dropped that as the Italian Preys is Governmentcontrolled, the attacks are a grave mistake. “Il Tevere” the worst offending journal published large cartoons, re- 1 viling John Bull and Tommy Atkins. Other obscure journals are exploiting the opportunity to increase their circulation by accusing Britain of cutting the throats of Maltese, Indians, Egpytiany, Boers and Ulster Catholics. The “Sun-Herald” says: The right to expansion is behind the violent ar.ti-British campaign, which Mussolini is inspiring throughout the Italian Press which despite the British protest, continues unabated.
