RUGBY FOOTBALL

To-day’s Big Match FOR THE SEDDON SHIELD. The West Coast Rugby representatives will to-day make a bo d bid at Blenheim to regain the Seddon Shield, lost to Marlborough last year, in the first challenge of the season, by *ne narrow margin of three points to nil. On this occasion West Coast is fieldinf a vigorous, if not brilliant set of forwards. and a most reliable and speedy set of backs, the best fielded for many years. On the other hand Marlborough wi 1 be without the services of two of its most brilliant inside hacks, Lane and Wilson, who were both injured last Saturday in the match against ’Ashburton representatives, whilst in addition two regular players are absent with the Maoris in Australia, and Best, the Al! Black forward, will also be missed. With such a reliable set of backs both on attack and defence Coast should have more than excellent prospects of winning back the trophy. M. Olsen is a proven and most reliable rake, so that the rearguard should have amnle opportunities. The West Coast team arrived at Blenheim at 6 p.m. on Thursday, aftera ‘good trip and al] players are fit and well, although G. T.
