(Our Own Correspondent.) Miss Beatrice Merrett was taken to the Westport Hospital, suffering with an internal complaint. On examination it turned out to be apt endicitis, and an operation was immediately performed. The patient is uoav on the road tn complete recovery.

It is no w two weeks s'nee the change over in the lighting system was completed. However, the residents are still without any street lights. The County Council ought to “get a wriggle on” and have the township lighted up again.

Miss Thelma Rees is sti’l in hos pital, but is improving gradually.

The mine worked four days last week but is idle at present. Dr. Will, of Christchurch visited the surgery a*t Ngakawau on Friday, to examine aU the compensation cases on behalf of the Insurance Company.

Messrs Luke and Ray are proceeding to Wellington this week for further medical examination.

There are at present ten members of the Medical Association off with injuries.
