It is understood that the Government will, content the Lyttelton seat at the by-election, made necessary by the deutih of Mrs E. R. McCombs. Already, it is stated, at least five persons are seeking to "Tie as Government candidates, and a meeting of within the Lyttelton electorate will be held shortly, to make the final selection. After this meeting a conference for which two Ministers., the Hon Adam Hamilton and the Hon. R. Mast ers, will visfit Christchurch shortly, will be ke?d At this conference the .'•/ejection of candidates to contest Hie general election at the end of the year will be considered.
