AND GOVERNMENT’S POLICY. The Coalition Government, now become the Nationalist Party, pretends that it safeguards the savings of the people. Tn 1930 the number of Post Office Savings Bank depositors was 852,757. Tn 1934 the number had been reduced to 798,262 a reduction of 54,495. This means that at least 54,000 deposits must have been pauperised by Coalition Administration. In 1930 the deposits totalled £49,436,491. Tn 1934 the total was reduced to £44,870.391.
