SKI CONTESTS AT HERMITAGE. THE May 25. In the last week fields of dazzling white snow have stretched in every direction over the slopes and levels about the Hermitage, Mount Cook. It has been possible to drive only as far as the Blue Lakes.
Trucks and buses have not been able tn reach the hut z . but the journey has 1? >?n made by two parties on skis. At the hut- it ha« been reported there are excellent ski-ing slopes*, which will provide a foundation for later falls, ensuing one of the best seasons for winter sports ever known at' Mount Cook.
At present girls from many Now Zealand secondary schools’ are coming here for their annual ski-ing championships, which may be held to-morrow.
