THE WEATHER
WELLINGTON, May 10. The weather report and forecast are as follows:— General situation: An anticyclone now covers fhe Dominion, but its centre lies over the southern portion of the South Island. Pressure is re--1 velv low west of the North Island Forecast: Winds strong southeasterly at first in Cook Strait area; clsetwhere moderate and variable, and northerlies prevailing shortly over the South Island. Seas in New Zealand waters rather rough to rough between Kaikoura and East Cape; elsewhere, smooth to moderate. Eas'ern Tasman Sea: Variable winds at first in the northern portion. but later freshening in the southern portion. Weather: Some scattered light rain in the northern and eastern districts of the Nor<h Island; elsewhere, weather fair to fine, and becoming gradually milder.
