(Our Own Correspondent.) School Boxing Tourney: WKSTJORT, May 3. II any body, is deserving of congratulation fur their efforts to keep yoing. it is tin* Committee in charge oi the annual boys’ boxing tournament which is scheduled to take place on Thursday next. These contests arc looked forward to with the keenest of interest and loyers of the sport who have in past years patronised the tourney will no doubt be again attracted by the stifling battles which tire always a feature of the arguments, and which invariably work onlookers to a high pitch of exeitment. It is indeed pleasing to record that Denniston School will this year be represented, and it is to be hoped that the decision heralds a revival of interest in a game that at one time occupied a high 1 pinnacle in the field of sport on the 11'11- The boys can be depended upon to reave] all the tricks of ihe trade. W ho. that was present at the last tourney. will forget the way young Collins and Hawes stood toe to toe and sent across their barrage of rights and lefts throughout the whole three rounds of their bout ? There is something similar in store for Thursday next and fans are advised not to miss it. Mr F. Wedding: St. John’s Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding yesterdav, when Normal), son of Mr and' .Mrs G. Robertson. Invercargill, was married to Ella Sybil!, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fletcher ol Westport. The bride was given away by her father and was attended by Miss Ivy McGowan, Christchurch, as bridesmaid. Mr W. The exhibits will be on show again tomorrow. Noted Fliers Visit Westport: Messrs K. R. Nicholl and R. G. Whitehead, who recently Hew the Tasman. sea from Sydney to Auckland, will arrive in Westport on Monday morning ami will remain for a week, during which flights will be conducted. Their machine, a Fuss Month, named the “Faith in New Zealand” will lead the Jubilee procession, on the morning of their arrival, to Victoria Square where .Messrs Whitehead ami Nicholl will be accorded a civic, reception by the Mayor, Mr Kilkenny. Personal: Rt. Rev. Bishop Hilliard, of Nelson, will arrive in Westport this week-end and will conduct confi'miat'on servises in St. John’s Church on Sunday morning.
