At the criminal court at Sydney, Janies Lucas, aged 46. was sentenced to death for malicously wounding Constable Arthurson, iVitii intent to murder at Bargo. near Goulburn, on January 6. Arthurson, whk> has now almost recovered from a bullet wound, disturbed two men robbing a shop. He challenged them to pul up their hands, upon which he was shot, allegedly by Lucas, who was later arrested.
