The Westport Jockey Club’s autumn meeting takes place on Saturday and Monday, the 13th and 15th ApriL The programme includes six galloping and two trotting events each dav and owners will find plenty to interest them in the programme, which appears in full in the Referee of the 28th Februarv. Abridged programme in later issues. Stakes total £1,200, and tw« goldmounted whips will be presented to the rider of the ■winner of the big event each day. The Morley Handicap, one mile, first day, carries 100 sovereigns, and the Westport Cup, second day, one mile and a quarter, is endowed with 115 sovereigns. The other galloping events carry good stakes and two trotting events each day carry 70 sovereigns each. The Club are meetingowners on transport expenses by contributing £1 per horse towards the cost of motor float or shipping freight. Messrs. Newman Bros.’ new threehorse float will be available for transport purposes, also three single trailer floats. The Westport Club’s meeting opens the Coast circuit, as Kumara. Westland, Greymouth and Reefton meetings follow on. The totalisator will be controlled by Mr. 11. James and the Club have decided to pay on first and second only.
