The death has occurred at Wellington of Mr Leslie Montague Pearson, managing director of F. J. Pinny Ltd. He was born at Geelojig (Vie.) in 1879, and came to New Zealand as a young man, and was employed as a traveller, then became associated with a tailoring firm in Christchurch, and became managing director of Pinny’s about 23 years ago. Ho leaves a widow and two children.

The engagement between Campbell Black, the aviator, and Florence Desmond, the actress, which wag announced on December 17. has been terminated by mutual consent. Miss Desmond says that she intends to resign from the directorate of Campbell Black Aviation Ltd., a private company formed by Campbell Black, to undertake all kinds of aerial transport, under the directorate of himself and Miss Desmond.

The death occurred yesterday nt Wellington, after a brief illness, of Rev. W. Bramwell Scott, Minister of Trinity Methodist Church. Wellington South, and Chaplain of the Forces. Less than ten days ago, Rpv. Mr Scott attended the Methodist Conference, but on the return journey he complained of feeling unwell, and last Saturday he developed an internal trouble. Tie was operated on that day, failing to rally. Rev. Mr Scott was inducted to the charge of Trinity Church three years ago. Tie took a large part in the work of the Returned Soldiers Association, and often acted as refwee for football clubs. He also took a keen interest in horticulture. Entering the ministry some 32 years ago. "Bev. Mr Scott did great work a« a 'Padre in the Groat War. and always had the welfare of returned men at heart. During the course of his ministry, ho travelled a good deal in New Zealand, visiting many centres, and having been stationed at Waimate, Kaiapoi and Wellington. Tie was 61 years of age.
