The weather was wet for the fifth day of the New Zealand croquet tourney. In the men’s singles, Lieu-tenant-Colonel Du Pre (England) beat 11. P. Stratton (Hawke’s Bay), who was captain of the Dominion team in Melbourne 26/15. The other two Englishmen met in this morning’s play, R. Poulter beating E. WardPeteley 26/10. In the women’s singles, Mrs Healey beat Miss Washer (Patea) 26/22. In the level singles, Mrs Mor-

gan (Manawatu) beat Mrs Jackson 26/10. COLONEL DU PRE SINGLES CHAMPION. AUCKLAND, March 13. Although the weather was fine, the lawns were somewhat holding as the result of previous rain when the annual Dominion croquet tourney was continued. The competitions are approaching their final stages, in most cases. Th* men’s singles championship has been won by Lieut.-Colonel Du Pre, the English champion, who. coming through with two lives, has made it unnecessary for a final to be played. The Englishman was at his best to-day, and gave an excellent exhibition.

The championship doubles competition will reach the semi-final stages tomorrow. The final of the Level Singles contest for the Whittaker Cup will be played to-morrow between Mrs Morgan (Manawatu) and Mrs J. Clark (Auckland).
