GALE IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 19. A gale of exceptional severity with floods doing damage, swept the British Isles during the week-end. In many parts of England gusts exceeded 70 miles hourly. At Liverpool the wind reached 79 miles, and at Croydon 73 miles per hour. The storm was accompanied by exceptionally heavy rainfall in the Lake district. CEYLON’S EPIDEMIC. RUGBY, February 13. The Colonial Office received' a report from the Governor of Ceylon, stating that no epidemic other than malaria exists there; that the malaria position, though still serious, is gradually improving; that only certain districts in the Island are affected; that trade and industry are not affected, and visitors to Colombo Hill stations have nothing to fear from malaria.
