Visitors Used as Screen 18 GET AWAY AND THREE WOUNDED. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received February 18 at 7 p.m.) NEW YORK. February 17. A message from Granite, in Oklahoma State, says that twenty-one long-term, convicts have effected a daring escape from the State Reformatory there. They escaped while a group of visitors, including women and children were inspecting the institution. All of the prisoners were equipped with smuggled pistols. They partially made use of the visitors as a shield, and they forced the keepers to open the gate. Tn an exchange of fire, one of the keepers was killed, ■while three of the convicts weje wounded and captured. The remainder, eighteen in number made their escape in stolen automobiles.
